Tuesday
through Thursday we spent in Copenhagen for the 30 Day-In Meeting, which was
shifted this transfer to be more of a 43-ish day meeting, but it was all good!
We left Skive at about 9 in the morning and arrived at the Mission Home at
about 4. We luckily were able to play UNO with the Elders from Herning, so that
was quite exciting. The next couple days were full of awesome training, amazing
food (Thanks to Sister O'Bryant!), and just overall jolly experiences with all
the Elders in my MTC group. It was super fun! A few highlights: lots of random
role plays in Danish, a now broken basketball hoop (it was actually not my
fault, I was just watching in a suit), and trying to get enough beds for
everyone to actually sleep there. While in the 30 Day-In Meeting, President
spoke with Ældste Brown and they decided (with Ældste Brown's family) that he
needed to go home early because of a medical situation within his family. So
through the course of those three days, I was nearly guaranteed to be staying
just like I had been for the transfer, to at least getting a new trainer.
Suddenly, transfer calls became a lot more stressful for me.
We were also
able to go to the temple while we were in Copenhagen. I love the temple!! It's
so amazing!! I also have decided that the Copenhagen Temple is in my top two
favorite temples. It's cool on the outside, but the inside is breathtaking.
It's gorgeously simple and the Spirit there is so unlike the business of the
city around it. The temple is an amazing place where we are able to focus on
the blessings we have from our Heavenly Father and feel of his love. If you
haven't been to the temple lately, I strongly encourage you to go! It's
definitely worth the trip, no matter the distance or time it takes.
Friday and
Saturday were splits in Aarhus with Ældster Christensen Senior and Junior. It
was quite interesting because we had District Meeting on Friday as well, so we
didn't have too much time to go out and work. We did have an eating appointment
with the Trapp-Nielsen family, which was quite fun. Stephanie Trapp-Nielsen is
the only Dane I've met that wants to speak English more than Danish. It was
quite interesting, but she went to BYU for 4 years so it wasn't too
weird.
We were in
Aarhus for transfer calls Saturday morning. President called us at about 7:45
and asked who was in the apartment. He started by joking with Ældste Brown that
his new companion was named Julie, so we'll see if he actually finds her back
in Houston or at BYU. ;) I was next on the list. I wasn't surprised to be told
I was staying in Skive. My new companion is... Ældste Spencer Saviano! He's
from Roy, Utah and was training Ældste Angerhofer in Slælse (on Sjælland).
Then
Saturday and Sunday were taken by watching conference and preparing Ældste
Brown for his departure! We watched all sessions except for Sunday afternoon.
We only watched Saturday Morning and Sunday Morning Live because of the time
difference, but we watched Priesthood and Saturday Afternoon both on Sunday as
well. I only watched two sessions in English, so my notes on the Danish
sessions are almost all my own thoughts on the subject the talk was about. I'm
very grateful that we can go back and watch, read, and listen to conference. We
can always learn something new from the things God's servants tell us!
Today, was
basically all transfers. We left for Aarhus and sent Ældster Brown, Erickson,
and Christensen Sr on the same train towards Copenhagen, then I stayed with
Aldster Christensen Jr and Smith until Ældste Saviano came and we left back for
Skive. It's been really fun with him so far! I'm excited for the transfer and
all the progress that we're going to make!! Just a little more on my new
companion too! Ældste Saviano is a wizard on the piano and has also started
playing the guitar! I'm very excited to work with him here! He's a super nice,
humble guy and he'll be great to work with! (I've only been with him for a
couple hours so far, so I don't have many other details...) I'm also our
designated driver, so that's exciting! I'm quite happy about it.
Thanks for
reading this long email and I apologize if something didn't make sense. We're
headed off to another appointment with Finn and Dorthe, so that will be great!
We also helped Elna set a Baptismal date of October 14th! So that's coming up
quickly and we're trying to work with her on building her foundation on Christ.
We also haven't been able to meet with Karsten for the past while, so we're
going to try harder to get a hold of him now that we're back in the area. But
some amazing things are going to come from Skive!! Hej hej!!
