"Du må ikke sige undskyld hele tiden!"

I have no good titles for this week, so I'm using a phrase that we use quite a lot with each other. It translates to basically "You shouldn't say sorry all the time!" Culture disclaimer: Danish does not have a word for "sorry." Unkskyld means "excuse me," which doesn't work for everything and is also not used as much as sorry in the first place. We've had a member get after us for saying "undskyld" too much because it's 'too polite.' Also, Ældste Moulton has decided that I'm an old missionary because I've been out for over a year. I definitely disagree, I'm still learning. ;)

Monday! We started off a busy week with two lessons on Monday! Sadly, they both turned into drop lessons! We already knew we would drop Sarya, just because he wanted to convert us to Islam and we couldn't really communicate and therefore have a good chance to help him. But their family still likes us and we say hello if we see them! We also had a first lesson with a man named Mickey in the church building. But he left saying that he felt surrounded by people with super-human faith and he couldn't reach that himself. So that was pretty sad. But we tried visiting Cloos-tårnet that day, which was pretty fun! It was sadly closed, but we walked around and visited a little church (which comprises all of my pictures from this week).

Tuesday was District Council (new name, basically the same... as of now at least) and interviews and splits! Needless to say, it was a big day! We discussed helping people with Baptismal Dates to actually be baptized! It was helpful! Then we had some lunch and reminisced about a year ago in the MTC (at least Søster Andrizzi, Ældste Newton, and I did). President Olsen then came to the church and we had interviews! Yes, they were in Danish and yes, they went well! Then Ældste Ellis and I had a bunch of stop by's which took the rest of the evening. It included a lesson though, so that was really fun!

Wednesday was part in Aalborg. Ældste Ellis and I had a couple lessons. One was with a 25 year old man named Nikolaj, and he committed to read the Book of Mormon daily! We also taught the Restoration to 4 Eritreans, but they weren't interested after that. After our day in Aalborg, Ældste Moulton and I came home and knocked a while. It was a good day!

Thursday was surreal and super normal at the same time. It was officially a year ago that I became a missionary and yet we did the exact same things we usually do! We had a lesson with a man named Ib. He's pretty funny, and surprisingly open to religion! He's a strong Christian and a school teacher. We taught part of the Restoration and he added some thoughts against Technology controlling our lives and people getting lazy. We also had a lesson with René, which was kind of rough. We had Erik Toft (our Branch Mission Leader) along with us, but René was just having a hard time accepting the Book of Mormon. He has some concerns with things that don't fit well into the Bible's timeline. But afterwards we went knocking!

Friday happened along with the rest of the week. We contacted some Australian teenagers on the gågade (pedestrian walking street). It's been really weird contacting this week, barely anyone is from Denmark! We also got two referrals, which were the same family and different people. A lady who was driving by on a scooter and told us to stop by her mom who is a member (apparently). And then Ældste and Søster Ravn gave us a referral for the mom's daughter, who turned out to be the lady on the scooter driving by! So we had a really weird stop by at the mom's house where they were both there and they didn't say anything about anyone wanting to be taught, so we just read in the Book of Mormon with them and then left. It was kind of awkward. We had a lesson with Micael Thomsen though. He was a previous investigator who contacted us a couple times on the street to say he would call for an appointment. It was mostly just to see what he already knew and what he believed. He could come along though! We're excited to work with him!

Saturday was our weird planned day. We had three lessons, but none of them happened. Then we were called by Ældste Ravn to assist with a blessing. A member named Susanna, was in the Hjørring hospital, so we went out there and gave her a blessing. Søster Ravn was standing in front of the door during the blessing so people wouldn't walk in, but the hospital got really worried and almost called security on us because she wouldn't move. So that was a first!

Sunday was really fun! We had church, which was great! We had a meeting with our Branch President (Kim Hvistendahl) and we talked about things we could do to encourage finding people to teach. I'm excited to work more closely with him in the future! Then we had an eating appointment with Kim and Marlene Reidel. They're a young family with three kids, but only one was home at the time. They're awesome though!! And then we met with Zibar again! He had read Mosiah 18 and asked if there was more he could read about baptism! So we basically just talked and read anything we could think of. He said he could come to church the next two Sundays, so we're excited to have him there!! (He also gave us some really good pomegranate Turkish Delight.)

My spiritual thought this week is basically Alma 57:21 and 26. It's about the 2000 Stripling Warriors. I was reading it earlier this week and I was very interested to see the focus on faith between the two verses. I'd definitely invite you to look at them, it's really cool!

Have a wonderful week!! Thanks for tuning in again!

And from a short note he sent home:  Also, Ældste Moulton and I have become really bad at English. Literally I was spending almost 5 minutes trying to think of the word "amputation" last night and then he just barely couldn't remember how to spell "berry." This is truly a problem!! ;) 😂

- Cloos-tårnet (a 60m high observation tower located in the waterworks forest at Pikkerbakkerne, immediately southwest of Frederickshavn)
- Flade Kirkegård (Flat Church is Frederikshavn's oldest)
- We also saw this bike as we were knocking. It's literally unlocked and the sign explains that the bike is for sale and how to send money by MobilePay to the owner and then just take the bike. Welcome to the security of Denmark. ;)
