Welcome Home!

The weeks prior to June 25th, we stayed busy with house projects and preparing to welcome Ældste Jepsen home! This morning, we received a picture of the group of Elders leaving Denmark, which confirmed that we would see him soon. Our family arrived at the SLC Airport early and were joined with some extended family, happy to share this fun day. It was also wonderful to meet other families waiting for their Danish missionaries. The Bailey's, Angerhoffers, Wrights, along with two sister missionaries' families were there. Ældste Throckmorton and a few other recently returned Denmark missionaries also came. And being there early, there were a handful of other missionaries who came in on an earlier flight that we enjoyed seeing the reunion with their families. (Camille got pretty teary, even though we don't even know Sis Hill who served in Brazil! ...good warm up to our turn!)

Then, when our missionary group rounded the corner to come down the escalator, the family cheers exploded from below! Here were our kids who we love and have missed. Bryant quickly gave us all strong tight hugs and it felt so good to see him again. He looked great, and of course also positively happy. It's been 3years since our family has all been together. What a great reunion!

And to add to the amazing airport reunion, we were able to be with him that night as he reported to Pres Brown, our Stake President. It was so tender to hear his firm testimony, love of his mission, and the Lord. He is a great young man. We feel so very blessed to have him home again. No doubt, as he follows where he is led, he will do great things in his chapters of life to come.
Sure love you lots, Bud!

Departures from Mission Blog Post

Yesterday we sent home 9 elders and 5 sisters. They've all made a big difference here in the mission and we appreciate every single one of them very much. They all went to the temple with President and Sister Olsen Monday and went to the mission home afterwards for a testimony meeting and the traditional ping pong tournament.

24 Karat Mission

Well there's not much you can do to top eating 24 karat gold and going on splits with Jesus. That pretty much topped off the last two years in a week.

Monday was the last P-day of the mission. To celebrate, we did some contacting! It was a pretty uneventful couple hours. We also checked out a couple stores and picked up some kebabs for lunch! As we were finally leaving the gågade, we saw the Hansens, who are Record Preservation missionaries. We talked with them for a little while, but then had to head out to email. Right after emailing, we drove down to Ballerup, where we switched companions so I could be with Ældste Walton. Then we drove down to Sliders (in Copenhagen) to eat with Rasmus. It was incredible!! We ate 4 little sliders each, and the taste was indescribably good! My favorite had jalapenos and  marinaded strawberries. Also, truffles are super good too! But to top it off, Rasmus bought more fries with 24 karat gold shavings on top of it! I can't say it tasted much different, but we made tons of rich jokes while eating gold. After eating such a luxurious dinner, he rented an electric scooter so we could drive it around a bit. It was a really fun evening. I'm just more excited to see him seek after Christ more in his life.

Tuesday had a morning inside and then the rest of the day outside! We went contacting after lunch until we met with Oliver. We basically discussed the Fall the entire time. He doesn't like that Satan would have done something "good" by tempting Adam and Eve. But he also admitted that he understands our position if we assumed that we lived with God before this life. Sadly, he's out of town for most of the summer, but still said he'd come to church sometime during the summer. Even though he has gotten everything out of meeting with us that he expected, he still feels like it is beneficial to meet after the summer, so we have hope for him! That evening, we drove up to Inger's house with Christian and Kate Ravn. We taught a ton in that one lesson!! We finished the Plan of Salvation, Tithing, and the Word of Wisdom! And Inger simply took it like a champ!! She's committed to follow through with the impressions she feels! It's super fun teaching her because she's so teachable! She's super excited for her baptism! It was exhilarating to see that she had written it down in her own calendar and started planning around it herself!! We're so excited!!

Wednesday was quite strange. We had some contacting in the morning, and then we headed down to Allerød to eat with Mei at the library. We sat outside and talked while we ate. It was really nice. It's been a while since we've been able to eat with Mei. We did some stop by's in Birkerød, where we met a black man named Benjamin who is in to Photonic Engineering. Then we headed down to Farum and knocked a bit before eating with Christian and Kate Ravn. It was super fun! I've had the privilege of serving around them in two areas now, so we're pretty good friends.

Thursday started with some studies and then driving down to Søborg for District Council. We had an awesome sum up of the transfer, and I got to share a few thoughts along with the other leaving missionaries. After that, we had an ultimate Blitz Splits!! (Or a Blitz Splits XL, as President Olsen called it.) We had our District (8 missionaries), Zone Leaders, and STL's all split up with members from the two Gladsaxe wards! It was awesome!! Ældste Crop and I were together with Thomas Kofod, who is the actor for Jesus in The Testaments. He's seriously the coolest member missionary!!! In the hour and a half that we were out, we had received a member referral, contacted them, and taught about Mormons Bog and agreed with the two we taught that we needed to meet again with the members who are their friends next time. It was awesome! Thomas is an extremely kind and loving man, who is really fun to work with! After the splits, Ældste Harding and I drove up to the Bendeke Family for dinner. It was really fun! They love missionaries and simply made us feel welcomed and offered their help.

On Friday, we ate lunch with Mei again! But she wasn't quite done with the food when we came, so we contacted for a while around in Allerød for an hour. She had also made an amazing apple tart, which I really like! Afterwards, we headed down to Farum again for an appointment with a Nepalese family we met on Wednesday. But they were simply double booked and didn't have time for us, so they just took a pamphlet. The rest of the evening was knocking.

Saturday included Transfer Calls, which was less exciting for me, to be honest. I already knew where I was going. I was just curious who my companion was going to be...  Otherwise, we did some Weekly Planning until we drove up to meet with Inger again. We taught the Law of Chastity and about the Sabbath day, and it couldn't have been easier!  She's just simply prepared! It's super fun to see!

Then my last Sunday as a missionary. It was weird. Inger came because she wanted to, and then Rasmus came to say goodbye to me. I was translating for six Americans (from the Farmington area in Utah), so when I went up to share my testimony, I gave Rasmus the translator. Let's just say it was a little too much for him with church words in English. It wasn't the best translation. After church, we went out to John and Lone's in Kokkedal. It was fun! Lone is having a hard time with smoking still, but it's coming along. We also went knocking out by the coast, so we could see Sweden. It was really pretty, and we had quite a few good conversations! Then we came home for dinner and ended the day with some hygge time with Helmi and Richardt.

Monday was weird. Waking up, knowing you aren't coming back that evening is a strange feeling. Helmi and Richardt treated us to a wonderful pancake breakfast. Then we drove down to the office in Frederiksberg. We had a while to hang out there waiting for interviews with President Olsen, and then we went to the temple. After that, we drove up to the mission home in Holte. We had an amazing dinner, testimony meeting, and played some intense ping pong. It was a pretty good day! The next morning, I left by 6:45 and flew back home, arriving at 7:20 to a family full of excitement and love. Thanks to those who supported me through these two years! It's been the measuring stick for my life, and I will do my best to live up to the trust that the Lord has bestowed me through being a part of His service. Now I'm a full time disciple! And I'm way excited to see these miracles!
