Garmin: Wander 40 years in the Wilderness

Let's just say, if you have a GPS, it should be able to direct you to the streets that you type in. But if the GPS doesn't recognize the name, you end up using a normal map. Also, it always tells us to turn right instead of right as we leave our house. Therefore, Ældste Harding and I are giving Garmin some new slogans.

Monday didn't go as planned. Not that any day actually works out like we thought. We had two lessons planned, with Oliver and Kasper, but neither happened. Oliver is just busy with school tests, and Kasper wasn't home when we came. So we simply knocked doors out in Kokkedal instead. Other than that, we both called our respective parents to wish them a happy birthday! My wonderful father had his birthday on Tuesday, and Ældste Harding's mom had her birthday on Monday.

Tuesday was pretty sweet! We had only one appointment, which was with Helmi and Richardt and we invited Inger. So gave us some good time to find. We went out to the Kollegium we'd started, and met two greenlandic students. Gerda and her boyfriend Jacki, are both somewhat religious. We came in after Jacki came home from playing soccer, so he was quite tired and sweaty. We basically taught to try and help Gerda feel God's love for her more. Awkwardly, once we got back to Helmi and Richardt's for our appointment, we had apparently written it down a half hour late... But they had simply started eating and talking after they tried calling our silenced phones. We came in and ate quickly, then taught a bit about the Plan of Salvation. Helmi and Richardt were helpful in teaching some points, but were very surprised when Ældste Harding said "So Inger, you said you want to be baptized, right? When do you think you'll be ready?" Granted, Inger had said she would be baptized before, but we haven't taught too much. But Inger said yes, she does. She had felt that this was the place she is supposed to be, when we met with her last time. So we're working with her to find a day she can be taught and then baptized! She's just awesome! It's so fun! She really likes us, but I don't feel like we've really done anything for her. She just eats up anything we have to give her!

Wednesday was rough. We helped moving some things for Kira Clemmensen, who is getting married to Henrik Bornemann (brother to Thomas in Fredericia). Then we went knocking again. And then to end the day off with a bang, we had splits to teach Rasmus! Ældste Owen and Ældste Harding drove off to meet with some less- active members in Kokkedal and also stopped by Kasper. Ældste Walton and I sat outside the church with Rasmus. It's hard to describe what we talked about, but basically it was how baptism would affect his life, he realized that he had some excuses not to be baptized but they didn't matter, and he cried (and then we cried too) as he told us how much he's appreciated meeting with us. It was really touching. We have a strangely deep connection with him, and it's so easy to talk and teach. The Spirit was so thickly in the air that when we kneeled to pray about him being baptized, I knew already that he knew what he should do. After some silence, he said all he saw was Katrine (who is his member girlfriend who he's going to marry). After asking if he wanted to be with her forever, he said yes. And yet he then said he wouldn't be baptized. In all honesty, I thought he was joking, so I was waiting for him to say "just kidding!" But we drove away from the lesson with simply a promise that we would keep in contact with him, even after the mission. It was very spiritually exhausting.

Thursday started out rough because of Wednesday night. But after some stop by's and driving down to District Council, it got brighter. We had a Blitz Splits there after the Zone Leaders' training, where Mei came down and worked with Søster Warren in Søborg! It was super fun to see her there! Ældste Harding and I then did some other stop by's on the way home.

Friday included some weekly planning, then we met with Jan at the library. Jan is a Polish guy, who is studying in Denmark. He's super cool, and took Mormons Bog to really find answers for himself! (Ældste Campbell and Ældste Harding taught him on splits last week.) We also had Isak Ringheim with us, where we explained the restoration for Jan. He asked some good questions and said he'd come with us to an eating appointment at the Bishop's house! He also liked the chapter he'd read in Mormons Bog! We also had a super energizing appointment with Bent and Charlotte Leit. They are the most missionary driven members ever! It's super fun! They basically gave our spiritual thought before we were finished eating! But they're way ready to help us embrace new people into the church!

Saturday was exciting! We had some more weekly planning (because that's how many people we have to plan for!) and then we went out knocking in Kokkedal again before an appointment. We met a Philippine lady, Anna, who was way happy to talk with us! She took a Mormons Bog as well and made an appointment! Then we came to meet with Kasper and his wife, Nissrine, but they weren't home! Again!! So we did some stop by's and walked past John and Lone's house. Then they called and invited us in to eat dinner with them!  Lone is doing better with smoking, but she's been busy with a lot of things. John also gave us a food and head massage which should help with allergies. So that was new and exciting! (Ældste Harding has really bad allergies right now.)

Sunday was super fun! Lone and Inger were both in church again! Inger had so many people talking with her and trying to invite her! We're going to meet with her at the Rosenkilde's house this coming Tuesday, so we're way excited!! But so many members talked to us about her and expressed how impressed they were that she comes so often!! We're way stoked and proud of her! Then we headed out to Slangerup to knock, where we met Jens Andersen's brother (or cousin?) and then gave two books out. One was a 20 yr old named Jonas. He was mildly interested, but we had a great conversation!

Spiritual thought: Sometimes, the rain falls where you don't expect. Sometimes, you're required to give your will up for others' or God's. Sometimes you have to "Remember that you're God, and I am not." (Thy Will be Done by Hillary Scott is a good song) But I can personally testify that God truly does know the in's and the out's of your life. He does know what is best for you, and amazingly, loves you enough to wait for your gratitude until after the trial. Keep pressing on to "bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." (D&C 11:6)  It is a great and marvelous work. No where in that sentence is the word easy, but it is worth the work.

Have a wonderful week! :)
