This was
another week! So we might as well just get on with the details.
Monday, was
quite hyggeligt! We basically hung out with Benjamin Grabe and carved pumpkins!
He took a ton of pictures (but we haven't gotten them yet...) After that, we
went and ate with Steffan. We also had a good conversation about the things
concerning him. It was a pretty good day. Pretty basic.
Tuesday
included: Contacting! We had one guy stop after trying to walk away and he was
interested at least in meeting again, so that was cool! We set an appointment
with him for Friday. Ældste Bailey was then sick, so I did some Area Book work
while he took a nap. Then we had an eating appointment with Karen Kristiansen
and her grandsons, Silas and Shane, at the church. She's basically the grandma
for the missionaries. It was super fun! We had a couple good contacting
conversations afterwards, which was great! One man was named Malte, and he took
a Mormons Bog and then said hi to us a couple days after on the street. That
was cool!
Wednesday
was Halloween! I've decided that it's the most awkward holiday for
missionaries. We decided to dress up like missionaries this year though. But
it's basically a normal day for us and then everyone is confused why we're out
knocking doors in the early afternoon. We also ate with Kaj that evening. It
was pretty good. We talked about baptism and the Word of Wisdom. He's not
really wanting to change though, so there's not much we can do there...
Thursday was
District Council about Thanksgiving! It was super good! We talked about how God
blesses us with more as we are thankful for what we have. There were a lot of
great personal testimonies and the Spirit was really strong! We also ate
lagkage (lah-oo kA) for Ældste Kofford's birthday! Ældste Bailey and I taught a
man named Glenn. He's super cool! He's a Pinsekirke (Pentecostal) less-active,
so he loves Jesus. He also showed us a band called Stryper (kind of
interesting...) but he said he wanted to come to church even though he wouldn't
commit to it. We also had a super short Coordination Meeting that evening
(because Martin had to call the cops on some local drug dealers).
Friday was
our Blitz Splits! We had gone out contacting that morning, which was good. We
didn't get to meet with that guy we met on Tuesday, sadly. Then our whole
district went to a certain area and just knocked for hours! It was honestly
super fun! I was with Ældste Iverson, which was exciting! We didn't have many
gospel conversations, but we had a lot of funny ones. At the end, we all had
kebabs together. We're basically friends with the Babylon kebab workers at this
point. We wave and say hi to them even on the street!
Saturday was
fairly normal. We contacted in the morning, had weekly planning, and knocked
until dinner. There was one family we knocked into who was interested in having
us come back. The wife, Malene, was excited to set an appointment and asked if
she could have her husband come as well (Of course!).
Sunday was
busy, as usual. We had church, which was awesome! Steffan didn't want to come,
but we convinced him that it would be better than not and God would bless him
with his school work. We had a couple of Americans visiting on vacation.
They're international pet sitters (yes, that is a thing!) and they're also
doing some family history trips while they're here. After church, we had
studies and went out knocking! We talked with a couple from Århus for a really
long time and they invited us in. It was super fun talking with them, but they
were just curious to listen.
My spiritual
thought comes from a scripture I really liked this past week. It's Alma 4:19,
and I placed words and pronouns to reference myself instead. It's about Alma
giving up the judgement seat in order to testify to the people about the
gospel. I really like the part where he says bearing "pure
testimony." That really is the best way to bring the Spirit, by bearing
your testimony.
I hope you
all have a great week!
