Well hello again! I feel like it was
just last week that I wrote an email... Funny.
Monday was pretty normal. We went
contacting and knocking and such. We emailed, then we biked insanely fast in
order to make a bus (which was then late) but unfortunately still came late to
an eating appointment. We ate with John and Lone Thompson. They've been
neighbors for about 9 years (about) and are both older folk, and then literally
without telling anyone (aside from one of Lone's friends) got married just a
couple weeks ago. I've only known them as a couple, but they've had
missionaries come and eat with them both just as friends and neighbors, and now
they're married! John is a super solid member who works consistently in the
temple. Lone is not a member, but has been coming for a long time because John
invited her to join the choir. Our "spiritual thought" turned into
her bearing testimony of the Holy Ghost after I asked her why she likes coming
to church. She's pretty awesome! Though sadly, I forgot John's name as I gave
the closing prayer. (It was super embarrassing because I only knew his name
until we came to the appointment!) Before we left, we had a couple minutes to
stop by a woman (who is a less active member) and her son, but then we
literally had to run (again) to catch our bus.
Tuesday started with another run!
But this time it was just for exercise. We had an eating appointmet (kind of)
in Hillerød. It was the Leit (light) family! They had tons of amazing brunch
food!! They're also super cool! Bent (dad) and Charlotte (mom) prayed after all
their kids left the house about where they should move to build up the church,
and they ended up over here! They're super strong and loving! They had quite a
few family members visiting, so there was a lot of food and some really good
conversation! After coming home, we taught Henrik! He's an interesting fellow,
so it's way fun. He has some very large speakers and loves CD's and records! He
has a super fancy record player, which he showed off to us with some
"Sounds of the Earth." But the elk calls and ocean noises got a
little too rowdy while we were reading 3 Nephi 11, so we turned it off.
(#OnlyOnAMission) But he committed to coming to church for Easter Sunday, so we
were stoked! That evening, we also had splits, but this time with members!!! It
was amazing! We had President Rosenkilde (counselor in the Mission Presidency)
and Frederik Carl (17 yr old priest and stud!). I got to knock with Frederik!!
He's super cool! He loves dogs and cats and had some really good clarifying
questions! We talked to some interesting people. One man was asking what the
difference was between the "old and the new gospel," which I assumed
meant the Testaments, so I explained. But then Frederik simply asked what he
meant by that, and he didn't even know. So I made things a bit more confusing
by rolling with a weird question. But Frederik and I agreed that name brands
attract a bit more attention than regular clothing, which was funny.
On Wednesday, we had our
Coordination Meeting with David Jansen! He's a stud! It was super fun! He and
his wife are super cool, and their two little kids are hilarious! It was super
fun!
Thursday included our District
Council! And then Ældste Campbell and I were on splits here in Birkerød. We
went out knocking where we talked with a lady who had some big Buddhist faces
on the door, but is more of a spiritualist. We had a really good conversation
with her and she invited us to come back to talk with her son who is preparing
to be confirmed in the Folke Kirke. Then we taught an Eritrean couple about the
Book of Mormon! And to end the day, we picked up pizza so that Ældste Campbell
ate pizza every evening of the week because of eating appointments. Ældste
Campbell is amazing! It was super fun working with him and teaching with him!
He's a stud and helped me remember how fun being a missionary is! It was such a
fun day out knocking!
Friday included us going down to
Farum and contacting, or at least trying to contact. There weren't too many
people outside, but we talked to all of them that were! We also talked to a
Romanian lady who had talked with Ældste Walton and Ældste McBride and
apparently made an appointment with them, even though we don't know when that
appointment actually is.
Saturday started with a trip to
Hillerød to fix the Sister's bike! That took a long time, as usual. Then we had
a good Weekly Planning where we called a ton of people to invite them to
Påskegudstjeneste (Easter Sacrament Meeting). Then we went around our apartment
complex to give out all Easter cards that we had left!
Easter Sunday then came! We went to
church and we had two people come! Henrik biked all the way from Birkerød and
came just a couple minutes late. We also had an older man named Ole. I also got
to translate, which is always fun. After church, we ate with Mei!! She made
some Spring Rolls/Wong Tons, which were super good!!
Spiritual thought is about the
Atonement of Christ! It's amazing how much the Atonement truly can change for
us! It's all encompassing! Literally anything ungodlike can be fixed through
Christ's power! Read Tad R. Callister's talk for any more information. (That's
an awesome talk!)
