Still "Sick of Smoking"

So just to be clear, I have not smoked nor will. But it was a good play on words that described this week. Also, basically everyone and their dog smokes in Denmark, so that's just a general annoyance.

Monday was pretty interesting. I still had a sore throat and felt a little sick, but it wasn't much of a problem. Early in the morning, we got a text about a "referral" which was basically a number and a message from a member saying to call them ASAP. Long story short, they were from Romania and had to get from Brørup to Esbjerg but didn't know how. We got him in touch with some good members and it worked out well. Otherwise, we went to Esbjerg Street Food for lunch, which was amazing! We had Mexican food made by an Argentinian man named Luis. He was super nice and it was extremely authentic. We also played Risk with the Sisters, which was pretty fun. Risk is a fairly anticlimactic game though. That evening for work, we went out to Ådalsvænget, which was actually pretty cool. There are a lot of opganges still out there to knock, so that's good.

Tuesday, I was still a bit sick. We had Coordination Meeting planned, but it was cancelled so that Martin could get a marriage license (that's important). So Ældste Bailey and I were out finding all day. We went out to Hjerting and knocked the rest of the complex out there. We had some fun people to talk with. One teenage boy was on the bus ride with us both ways, but he awkwardly avoided talking to us after I complimented his jacket. It was pretty funny.

Wednesday was the sickest day. I just didn't feel good. But we had interviews with President Olsen, then District Council, and splits! So it was a very busy day. I was with Ældste Iversen, and he decided that I just needed to sleep. After a good nap, we all went out caroling to people the ward members had recommended. It was pretty fun! We also got to meet the Romanian man, Brother Benga, who is staying with Anton Danner until he leaves for work in Holland. He's super nice and loves missionaries. We're going to see if we can use him to translate for Constantin later. Then we had UV where we played Sequence. Ældste Fonnesbeck loved the game, and it was pretty fun. But I was just ready to go home and sleep, which I did afterwards.

Thursday, we did some work in the morning before the Sønderborg Elders headed off. Then we had a couple appointments. One, with a lady named Jonna, was interesting. She's an older lady who is very spiritualist. She loved the Plan of Salvation pamphlet we gave her and had read the first 34 pages in Mormons Bog! She liked what we talked about, but is unsure if she can understand and "take" all of it.  Other than that, we went out knocking and such, which was also good. Then we came inside to call/invite as many people to our Christmas concert as possible.

Friday, we had some contacting where we didn't really get a full conversation with anyone. But then we had our Christmas Concert, which was super fun! We literally ran out of chairs! Every seat in the church was filled. It was super cool! We sang and danced around the Christmas tree. There were a lot of refugees invited, so it was fun to talk with all of them. We ate a lot of æbleskiver as well.

Saturday included Weekly planning (as usual). We also went out contacting, which was fine. But then we had a lesson with Constantin! We haven't met with him since we gave him a blessing in the hospital, and the first thing he told us was that he hasn't smoked since then! He's been smoking for 36 years and has tried to stop, but couldn't, until now!! It was super cool! As far as his heart, he is supposed to keep from working for a couple weeks and take some medication but will be fine! It was an awesome miracle!!

Sunday was long. We went to church early to have Coordination Meeting with Johnes Laine (our Assistant Ward Mission Leader who is taking over for Martin while he's in the US getting married). While at church, we had two African people come who were interested from the Christmas Concert, so we (mostly Ældste Bailey) translated for them. Then we drove out with Martin to carol for some people in Skærbæk and Ribe. Then we came home and contacted for a couple hours.

Spiritual Thought, read about Constantin stopping smoking again! It's incredible!! He told us that he believes it was because of the blessing we gave him too! He's incredibly faithful!!

Have a wonderful week! Keep that Christmas Cheer and Light the World!!
