Ett kort besök i Sverige (A Short visit to Sweden)

Translation to Danish (because I don't speak Swedish very well): Et kort besøg i Sverige
Translation to English (because that's effective in Sweden if they talk too fast to understand knowing only Danish): A Short Visit to Sweden

Monday started as a normal week! We did some contacting and stopped by a guy who said we should try in the morning. But he opened the door and explained that he had just called the Ambulance and they were coming. So we gathered it wasn't the best time to talk... As we walked down the stairs, the paramedics were coming up and they asked us, confused, what we were doing there. We quickly said we just stopped by, but the man was waiting for them so they shouldn't worry about us! We visited Vor Frue Kirke, which is on Christianshavn and has a beautiful golden-trimmed, spiral, tower. It was gorgeous weather as well, so we could see everything very clearly! Then we headed in to København to go bowling, but plans changed and we ended up eating MAX Burger with the Sisters from Nykøbing Falster.

Tuesday was strange! We had Physical Therapy for Ældste Throckmorton again, so we walked a bunch that morning. When we showed up for the appointment, I wasn't feeling very well so I was basically just zoned out. Afterwards, we hopped on a bus to take it to Kongens Nytorv where we could switch to the Metro. Once we got off the bus, I started walking towards a small side street to hopefully find a trash can, and Ældste Throckmorton followed me, confused where I was going. All in all, there wasn't a trash can, but there was a storm drain, so I threw up in a storm drain! Then we caught the Metro and came home to Amager! I took a short nap when we got home, but we otherwise went out to visit some people with Pres. Henrik Olsen. I felt fine the rest of the day, so no worries there.

Wednesday morning, we biked in to Frederiksberg for District Council, which the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders talked about selling the "Mulcher 5000" but didn't give any good reasons why it was useful, or better, or helpful. Thus we discussed being bold and charitable in our contacts, not shying away from telling people the truth in order to help them. It was really good! After coming home, we went knocking and testified to everyone who opened the door! It felt good. :)

Thursday was pretty sweet! We went out contacting that morning and had some awesome conversations! One man, Rasmus, talked with us for a while. He hadn't thought much about religion before, but had recently started reading the Bible and has since read everyday because he thinks it's so helpful! We also got in touch with Isamar, the Venezualan mom! They were out of town, so we couldn't get a hold of them before. But she's super happy and wants to meet! So we have good contact with her.

Friday was awesome! We woke up super early and biked to the airport. Then we took a train from Denmark to Sweden! We had to switch trains in Malmø to Ystad, Sweden where Ældste Throckmorton unfortunately lost his backpack on the train... But we enjoyed trying to understand Swedish people! It's a hit and miss where we can completely understand some people, but others sound just like weird sounds and some Danish words. Then we took a ferrie to Rønne, Bornholm. We ate breakfast with the Bornholm Elders (Ældste Gottfredson and Ældste McKinnon) along with Ældste and Søster Hess. They're all super awesome, so life was just peachy! Ældste McKinnon and I also ate at a member, Lene's house before going out to Sorthat to knock. It was pouring rain and we were completely soaked, but the El-cykler (electric bikes) were super fun to ride! We had a super hyggeligt evening with Exploding Kittens and Tropical Salsa Porkchops. (Very impressed with their dinner!)

Saturday started wonderfully with a good morning run around the beach and harbor! Ældste Throckmorton rode a bike because he didn't have any running shoes. but then we hopped on the ferrie and headed back to Sweden. We ate some MAX Burger in Ystad and then came back to Denmark! We had just enough time to have personal study before we headed out to Ballerup to eat with Henrik and Hannah Olsen! And guess who shows up there, Hannah's parents! Ravnhild and Verner Korgaard! That was super exciting because Ældste Throckmorton and I both have served in Skive! 'Twas super fun! Also a long day with lots of travel.

Sunday turned out well. We had church where we taught the YSA/English Sunday School class. It was super cool. We also had SOS afterwards, which was fun! Then Ældste Throckmorton and I went out contacting before we had to come in and do Weekly Planning.

Spiritual thought! I had a cool experience while teaching Sunday School. We were talking about the Widow of Nain who lost her son (Luke 7) when Christ comes and tells her not to weep and then raises him from the dead in the middle of the burial parade. One of the (senior) Sister missionaries pointed out the compassion that Christ had on the widow who was suffering the loss of her son. As she spoke, I was reminded that she had also lost one of her sons back when he had been serving on a mission. Hearing this Sister's testimony of Christ's compassion and love towards us was deep and personal because it not only happened in a story, but had happened for her. It struck me as a strong reminder that the scriptures are not just stories! They are actual people! They really did happen! And those kinds of people have those kinds of problems today! The gospel is not just a great idea to discuss, it literally changes lives of those who use it! It can change your life! It really is true, and I'm grateful that I can testify that I've seen it change me and those who I've been privileged to help along the way. The Savior truly does live! He truly does watch and bless you. He loves you! Don't forget that.
